Oldham’s Metrolink extension opened in June 2012, and connects the borough to Rochdale, Central Manchester and beyond to East Didsbury.
Four new stops opened on Monday 27 January 2014 - connecting Metrolink to the heart of Oldham town centre - at Mumps, Oldham Central and King Street - and a fourth new stop at Westwood on Middleton Road. Find out more on the Metrolink website.
Since it opened over 250,000 passengers have used the service across the borough, with journeys from central Manchester taking just 25 minutes.

Further savings can be made with special day, weekend, family and group passes, as well as longer term tickets, including weeklies, four-weeklies, quarterlies and annuals.
Park and Ride facility for Metrolink passengers are available at Derker, Oldham Mumps and Hollinwood. Cycle stands and lockers are available at the Freehold, Hollinwood and Failsworth tram stops.
Getting to Oldham by car or coach is easily. Oldham Town Centre is less than 10 minutes from both the M60 (junction 22) and M62 (junction 20).
Saddleworth’s Pennine hills and historic villages are also less than 10 minutes from the M62 (junction 21).

Buses run from Manchester to Oldham every 10 minutes throughout the day. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Details of which buses to catch are available on the Transport for Greater Manchester website or by calling the travel line number (0871 200 2233).
Coach parking is available and free (except where stated otherwise) in the following areas. Coach drivers must contact Oldham Parking Administration in advance (Tel: 08456 804274) and give the Vehicle Registration number.

Coach parking in Saddleworth

Trains run from Manchester and Huddersfield to the Saddleworth village of Greenfield (a few minutes walk from Uppermill) every hour. The direct service from Manchester Victoria takes just 27 minutes. Tickets cost £4.50 for 'anytime' return, £3.80 'off-peak' return, or £1.95 super 'off-peak' return (for trains departing between 6.30pm and 9pm).

Oldham is only 30 minutes drive from Manchester Airport. There are also train connections to the Saddleworth village of Greenfield (via Stalybridge) and an express service to Manchester City Centre (every half hour) from where you catch a tram (from Autumn 2011) or bus into Oldham Town Centre.
