The annual festivities promote the historic English county of Yorkshire, with Saddleworth sitting in the historic West Riding of Yorkshire.

In 2019, Yorkshire will be 1144 years old, so the Declaration of Independence will be read at 11.43am by the statue of Ammon Wrigley near Saddleworth Museum. Gather from 11.30am for the occasion which includes readings from special guests and the Saddleworth White Rose Society.

Then there will be a procession led by the band to the King George V playing fields, where there will be an afternoon of refreshments, games, activities and stalls including brass bands, counrty dancing as well as sheep shearing.
