Come and spend the day with one of our instructors learning woodland skills. We’ll teach you the fundamental skills of friction fire lighting, campfire cooking and wood whittling.

The day will be based at the Castleshaw centre, not too far from Saddleworth Moor. There is onsite parking, toilet facilities and a yurt from which the course will run. We will provide waterproof clothing, boots/wellies if needed and access to all course equipment.

Course content:

Fire making using a drill and bow, flint, steel and ferro rod.

Open fire cooking

Wood carving and whittling

Tree identification

The course will be delivered by Chiron Turner, an experienced green wood worker who has been delivering woodland skills and survival activities for many years.
