Part of the Peterloo 2019 Commemoration, Manchester Histories is presenting ‘Soapbox Oldham” on Saturday 22nd June 2019.  creating a Speakers Corner/Soapbox experience in Parliament Square Oldham.

Manchester Histories has partnered with young people led groups: Oldham Youth Council, Oldham Theatre Workshop and MAHDLO Youth Zone to develop their own response to the Peterloo 2019 themes of Protest, Democracy and Freedom of Speech. The work will be spoken out loud by the writer or another person. 

Peterloo Commemoration 2019 - Manchester Histories is leading Peterloo 2019, a programme of activity that will mark the 200th anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre with public events, learning opportunities and creative exploration developed in partnership with cultural organisations and communities across Greater Manchester.
