Description

Christine Bovill's Paris - Fri 12 Oct 2018, 8pm,  £15

Millgate Arts Centre. Stoneswood Road, Delph.

A Parisian-scented twilight world of song

Winner of "Spirit Of The Fringe" in Edinburgh 2017, Glasgow chanteuse, Christine Bovill has built her reputation on the massively successful sell-out show, PIAF, which Christine brought to a full house at the Millgate last year.

In her new show,  "Christine Bovill's PARIS", she beckons you back to the Golden Age of French Song; a demi-monde of heroes and outcasts, cynics and bruised romantics.

With drama, pathos and pizzazz, the show casts a sepia-tinged spotlight on the songs and stories of Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Barbara, Juliet Greco, Charles Aznavour and more…

Christine Bovill has built a formidable reputation as a songwriting jazz chanteuse. Born into a Glasgow family where folk music was the flavour of the age, Christine characteristically explored her own inclinations, finding a delight in jazz and cabaret, which she has been developing ever since.

A 5 star hit at 2016 and 2017 Edinburgh Fringe, including winning Spirit of the Fringe Award 2017, Paris has also wowed international audiences including London, Ireland and Berlin.

"Bovill is a great storyteller and she brings the songs to life with terrific panache and dramatic flair." (The Scotsman)

“Something that will stay with you for the rest of your life….I wasn’t prepared for the effect her voice would have on me.” (Sunday Times)
