John Hallam and the Chris Holmes Trio

Millgate Arts Centre, November 6th , 7:30pm,

We welcome the return of jazz musician and reeds specialist John Hallam together with the Chris Holmes Jazz Trio, whose first appearance at the Millgate in April 2017 in front of a capacity audience, was a resounding finale to the Society’s 2016-17 Season.

John, a fluent and lyrical performer on clarinet and saxophones has played with some of the finest musicians from both sides of the Atlantic. His work includes recordings for radio and TV, jazz workshops and projects for education.

The Chris Holmes Jazz Trio comprises Chris Holmes (piano), Dave Turner (double bass) and Paul Tuite (drums). Chris developed an interest in Jazz whilst studying music at Manchester University and the RNCM. After graduating he moved initially to London and then Bermuda to work professionally with a band. On returning to Manchester he formed his own trio which soon became well known in North West jazz circles, accompanying many top national and international instrumentalists and singers.

Their programme will include melodic standards, tunes from the Great American Song Book and some more contemporary compositions.
