Royton Soldiers and the end of the First World War by Roger Ivens- Royton Library

Friday October 5 , 2:00pm

To commenmorate 100 years since the end of the First World War, live@thelibrary is hosting a series of talks and performances about Oldham during the war from the frontline to the homefront.

Based upon two unique sets of archives compiled after the end of the First World War this talk tells the stories of Royton soldiers from two different but intriguing angles. The first tells the stories of Royton men who were taken prisoner by the Germans; while the second looks at those who survived the war but who claimed a pension due to injuries sustained during the fighting.
