Millgate Arts Centre Wednesday October 12th 2022
This exceptional quartet will be playing Swinging Jazz Classics and Standards from the Great American Songbook. Expect numbers by Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Charlie Mingus, George Shearing, Errol Garner and Sonny Rollins.
We welcome the return of Jazz musician and reeds specialist John Hallam, a fluent and lyrical performer on Clarinet and Sax well known on both sides of the Atlantic for his radio and TV appearances as well as playing at renowned jazz venues. John’s quartet features Tom Kincaid on piano, who, as well as playing with John, also plays with Art Theman, Alan Barnes and Scott Hamilton; Ed Harrison, one of the most sought after Bass players in the country and Jack Cotterill who plays and records on Drums with some of the world’s finest jazz musicians.
John Hallam is an outstanding, highly acclaimed reeds player who is equally at ease with many forms of music on a number of instruments. His playing is highly innovative and thrilling as well as sensitively moving.
