DROP-IN WORKSHOP “Book of Days”.

Free in the community gallery

Saddleworth Musuem and Gallery needs you! The museum’s  ‘Book of Days’ initiative seeks to connect with local groups  to help create a physical scrapbook conserving significant days & dates, local traditions, events, commemorations and celebrations. This workshop is the first opportunity for all local communities, groups and individuals to be involved.

+ Gain help with resources and ideas

They would love to hear from you if you are part of a local group, school or are a facilitator of a group and would like to take part.

There is no need to book but confirmation by email to the learning officers (Lindsey and Tim) at learning@saddleworthmuseum.co.uk would be most helpful to gauge numbers You can also pop into reception between 1 and 4 pm. If you are unable to attend but would like to register an interest please email learning@saddleworthmuseum.co.uk

 

Road Directions

The Museum is on the main road through Uppermill (A670), 13 miles from central Manchester, 13 miles from Huddersfield and approximately 20 miles from Leeds.

Saddleworth Museum: -We are located beside the main road in Uppermill (A670), 13 miles from central Manchester and 13 miles from Huddersfield.

If you are travelling on the M62 from the west take Junction 20 and follow signs for Oldham (A627M) then brown signs “Saddleworth Tourist Attractions”. If you are travelling from the east on the M62 leave at Junction 22, turn left, then turn left in Denshaw village and follow signs to Uppermill. If you are travelling from the south on the M60 leave at Junction 23 and follow signs for Ashton, Mossley and Uppermill.

Although there is a parking area immediately outside the museum,  parking can be difficult in Uppermill. Parking spaces are often available a 15-minute walk away at the Saddleworth Pool and Leisure Centre, Station Road, Uppermill, Oldham OL3 6HQ

Public Transport Directions

By Train

There is a local railway station situated 3/4 mile from the museum at Greenfield. Greenfield station is on the Manchester Victoria / Huddersfield line.

By Bus

Take the 184 from Manchester, Oldham and Huddersfield and from Ashton take the 350. We advise you to check before travelling.

By Canal

The museum is located next to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal at Lock 21 with mooring facilities next to the museum at Wade Lock, Uppermill.

By Tram

Currently the nearest trams go into Oldham and Ashton-under-Lyne.
