Its back! the brilliant Big Bang Bonfire with fun and enetrtainment for all the family. Starting’ from 5pm with funfair rides and mouth-watering food that is ‘out of this world’ from local stalls for visitors to enjoy.
The stage show then begins from 6pm and the lighting of our bonfire before the countdown begins to the grand fireworks finale which is visible from every corner of the borough.
Oldham Council’s free bonfire is Back with a Bang!
Following a break due to Covid this year’s event makes a welcome return to its home on Oldham Edge Playing Fields (Henshaw Street, Oldham OL1 3EN).
The event starts at 5pm and final arrangements are currently underway for what promises to be one of the biggest, loudest and most colourful events of the year – including fire-themed entertainment and a fireworks display from UK champions Fantastic Fireworks.
Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and attendees are asked that they don’t bring their dogs, except for assistance dogs, on site.
Running order
5pm – Site opens at Oldham Edge including the fairground and food stalls
6pm – The stage and fire show starts
6.05pm – The bonfire is lit
7pm – Fantastic Fireworks display
7.20pm – Fireworks end
8.30pm – Site closes
Safety
At this time of year the Council works alongside the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and partners to keep people safe from fires, injuries and nuisance.
The Big Bang Bonfire helps to ease the extreme pressure that can be put on our emergency services.
The following are not allowed on site and will be confiscated:
alcohol
gazebos
fires
barbecues
fireworks
sparklers or any naked flames
You are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear.
Parking: Don’t forget that you can also park for free in all council-owned town centre car parks and on-street pay and display parking bays from 3pm on the day.

Oldham Council are working in partnership with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service to put on this event.
Road Directions
Free town centre parking : You can park for free for up to 3 hours on all Council owned town centre car parks (listed below) every Saturday and Sunday. To qualify for this offer you must take a ticket from the pay and display machine for the length of time you are intending to stay.
Council owned town centre car parks: Civic Centre, Waterloo Street, Southgate Street, Bow Street, Bradshaw Street, Rock Street, Tommyfield (No Return Within 3 Hours) and New Radcliffe Street
What to do:
To take advantage of this offer you must take a ticket from the pay and display machine for the length of time you intend to stay. The ticket must be clearly displayed in the windscreen of your vehicle before you leave the car park. If you want to park for longer than 3 hours you must pay at the pay and display machine for the entire length of your stay. You can also park for up to 30 minutes on-street, seven days a week when you take a ticket from the pay and display machine.
Public Transport Directions
Access to Oldham town has never been easier thanks to Metrolink. The town centre line has three stops – Oldham Mumps, Oldham Central and Oldham King Street – meaning the many shops, attractions, events and leisure offer is all within a short distance. Journeys from Oldham Mumps into Manchester now only take around half an hour.
