1960’s rock icon, Janis Joplin died from a drug overdose on October 4th 1970 at the age of 27. Had she lived she would have gone on to bring more of her great music to us. While her work is known to those of her generation, it is increasingly less so for those following. Linzi Matthews brings her remarkable singing talents to the fore, recreating songs associated with Janis Joplin to give us a look into the world she inhabited. Linzi Matthews credits include Blood Brothers (West End & national tour), Loot at Hull Truck and at Oldham Coliseum in their hugely popular pantomimes. Her TV credits include Eyes Down with Sheridan Smith, BAFTA Award winning Warriors with Matthew McFadden and Damian Lewis and Coronation St.

Live@thelibrary, an Arts Council funded programme, brings the best book themed activities, music and theatre to the heart of Oldham in Oldham Library’s Performance Space. Live@thelibrarylocal is the latest development of the programme, bringing authors and theatre shows to district libraries and community venues.
Tickets for live@thelibrary events, unless otherwise stated, are £5. All upcoming events are listed in our events calendar with tickets booked through Eventbrite. Please note that children under 12 months are free and accompanying adults must book a ticket to attend children’s performances. Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds.
Road Directions
Free town centre parking : You can park for free for up to 3 hours on all Council owned town centre car parks (listed below) every Saturday and Sunday. To qualify for this offer you must take a ticket from the pay and display machine for the length of time you are intending to stay.
Council owned town centre car parks: Civic Centre, Waterloo Street, Southgate Street, Bow Street, Bradshaw Street, Rock Street, Tommyfield (No Return Within 3 Hours) and New Radcliffe Street
What to do:
To take advantage of this offer you must take a ticket from the pay and display machine for the length of time you intend to stay. The ticket must be clearly displayed in the windscreen of your vehicle before you leave the car park. If you want to park for longer than 3 hours you must pay at the pay and display machine for the entire length of your stay. You can also park for up to 30 minutes on-street, seven days a week when you take a ticket from the pay and display machine.
Public Transport Directions
The Metrolink route through the heart of Oldham drops you just two minutes from our door. Oldham Library provides a wide range of activities targeted at different audiences of all ages within Oldham and the surrounding area. From Oldham Central stop head towards Sainsbury’s car park and almost immediately you’ll see the building. Trams operate at least every 12 minutes in both directions.
