From the rich heritage and stunning architecture of the town centre, to the picturesque Pennine moorlands of Saddleworth, Oldham’s towns and villages need to be explored to be appreciated.
Oldham Town Centre has plenty to offer to visitors of all ages, with its fascinating history, stunning architecture, vibrant cultural scene, fabulous food and drink and a shoppers' paradise all within easy reach.
In contrast, take in the dramatic scenery of the Peak District National Park and visit the picturesque villages of Saddleworth, famous for their sense of community and vibrancy of village life.
Visit the Saddleworth Museum and Art Gallery in Uppermill or stop to refuel at one of the village’s tea shops, restaurants or pubs. Discover stone-built farmhouses, weavers cottages, and merchants houses in Dobcross or visit Greenfield, the perfect starting point to explore the moorland’s many walks and trails. For great views across Oldham and Manchester, the 18th century village of Lydgate is worth a visit. Diggle was the location for the UK’s largest waterwheel and a great base for canal walks and exploring canal tunnels. Denshaw is the home of an ancient hamlet with stone dwellings built in the 16th century. Delph is perfectly located for walks up the Castleshaw Valley to the Roman Fort.
