Description
Originally built in 1815, this Grade II* listed former Independent Methodist Chapel has received a new lease of life thanks to Age UK Oldham. Having received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Architectural Heritage Fund and Viridor Credits, they oversaw local professionals and craftspeople sympathetically and tastefully renovate the building to create a versatile and functional space which retains its inspiring heritage.
The chapel is set over three floors including the main chapel area, gallery mezzanine floor and lower ground floor. The ground floor chapel is a beautifully unique space which still retains historic features including original wooden box pews and a stunning and magnificently restored working organ, set behind a carved wooden raised lectern area.
The chapel has once again opened its doors to the community to be used as a venue for social, business and educational events.
