Description

Higher Oxhey Farm in Denshaw, high on Saddleworth Moor, is home to Saddleworth Llama Trekking Centre and Animal Farm. On the farm you’ll find rare breed chickens, pigs, Herdwick sheep and lots of others including the very rare Mangalitza and Curly Coated pigs. Head out from the farm on a trek and you’ll walk side by side with the animals over the beautiful Saddleworth Moors.

Treks can last from 2 – 5 hours and include a tour of the farm. Alternatively, tours of the Animal Farm can be booked independently (with the chance to include talks on the animals and hands-on activities).

Treks include:

2 Hour Treks - This is a lovely easy walk around Oxhey Top and Heights Church in Delph. There are great views and lots of wildlife to see. Great for children or those who just want to experience walking a llama. Bring a picnic and have it on route or you are welcome to picnic at the farm.

Adults £20 Children £10.00

4 Hour Trek - This trek covers 5 miles with several stops to take in the views of our lovely Saddleworth countryside. It will take you through Casteshaw, up Lark Hill where the views are breathtaking then down into Delph village. There are pubs and cafes so you can make a choice for your lunch or just bring a picnic for the llamas to carry for you.

Adults £30 Children £15

5 Hour Trek – A glimpse into Saddleworths paste this takes us along from Denshaw into Castleshaw calling at The Roman Fort where the banks and ditches have been reconstructed to give visitors an in-depth history of the fort.

Adults £40 Children £20

5 Hour Trek – Tranquil walk over the Pennine Bridleway, to the Rams Head where you can enjoy fine food in the restaurants, cafés, purchase local produce from the farm shop or just bring a picnic and enjoy the views.

Adults £40 Children £20

Please note children aged 14 years and above are priced as adults as they are able to lead a llama on their own. We take a minimum of 4 people per trek. Food and drinks are not included. Stout footwear is required, as some of the treks are stony, waterproofs are a must.
